Run 8 Train Simulator Multi-player Mode

The InSimOptions - Host tab

Run 8 Train Simulator InSimOptions Host Tab

To start hosting a session in Run 8 Train Simulator simply click on the "Host Session" button to start hosting. The only thing that your friend's need to join you is your IP address and your Run8 network password which you can setup in the "Network Password" window (up to 25 characters). Once a friend joins your session their crew name and IP address will show up in the "Selected Client Options". Also, when you host a session you are automatically assigned CTC Dispatching duties.

And in the "Selected Client Options" you can do things like deputize a friend as a dispatcher by selecting that person and clicking on the "Deputize as Dispatcher" which will let that person have full access to the Run8 CTC Dispatching screen. This can be useful on our BNSF Mojave Sub route as there are actually three dispatchers along our route and they are as follows; 1) BNSF DS 12 - BNSF Bakersfield Yard to Kern Jct. 2) BNSF DS 13 - Barstow to South Mojave Jct. 3) UP Omaha DS 254 (54) - UP Bakersfield Yard to Mojave (Fleta). Of course if you like a real challenge, and are good at multi-tasking, you could act as all three and also run a train all at the same time!

We then have the "Dispatcher Mode" section where you can put the session in "Dictatorship" which will only allow you or people you deputize to have full CTC Dispatching access. If you put the Dispatcher Mode into "Anarchy" then everyone in the session has full CTC Dispatching access which can sometimes lead to some very wierd or bizzare things happening in a session as some people have a warped sense of humor so be careful using this mode.

The "Allow Crew Interaction" once selected will allow other users to interact with your train so they can do things like close and open anglecocks and couple and uncouple cars and locomotives under your control.

The "Revert Lost Client to Free Agent" basically allows a client's train to revert back to a free agent train if a client drops off the network. This comes in handy when someone drops out of a session due to internet lag or an interruption caused by the users pc and they want to rejoin the session and take back control of their train which will be right where they left it when they dropped off. Not having this selected will cause the user's train to be removed from the network and the session if they were to drop out.

The "Network Time-Sync for Clients" let's you control the time and day for everyone in the session when selected.

And finally, the "Remove Host Train from World" will let you remove your train from a session if you have one. This comes in handy if you have a through train and are at the end of the line and need to remove it.

It's also worth mentioning that in Run 8 Train Simulator you can, if you want, and if you have multiple pcs on the internet, join your own session using the same IP address.
